The cryptocurrency community is calling on Elon Musk to delete the Satoshi Nakamoto account on X, citing violations of the platform’s terms of use. The plea emphasizes the prohibition of misleading and deceptive identities.
Members of the cryptocurrency community are appealing to Elon Musk to take down the Satoshi Nakamoto account on X, formerly Twitter. They argue that the account, claiming to be the legendary creator of Bitcoin, breaches the platform’s terms of use.
On October 3rd, a user named Pledditor posted on X, advocating for the removal of both the Nakamoto account and the “Bitcoin” account. The reason cited is a violation of the platform’s terms, which explicitly prohibit “misleading and deceptive” identities.
Pledditor pointed out the specific terms and conditions sections believed to be infringed upon, stating, “You can’t misappropriate someone else’s identity without disclosing you are a parody account. It’s no different than making a fake ‘Tesla’ or ‘Elon Musk’ account.”
X’s terms and conditions clearly state that users must not “misappropriate the identity of individuals, groups, or organizations or use a fake identity to deceive others.” This includes impersonating existing individuals and creating deceptive identities that mislead the public.
