Starbucks provides beta testers with coffee-themed NFTs on Polygon

The first group of US beta testers for Starbucks Odyssey, a blockchain-based loyalty program, was announced by the multinational chain of coffee shops.

The initiative includes NFTs with a coffee theme that are related to actual experiences and is an expansion of the business’s current Starbucks Rewards project.

By introducing the Starbucks Odyssey program earlier this year, the organization made it clear that it intended to join the NFT and Web3 bandwagons.

Customers have the opportunity to participate in “journeys,” or activities, as part of the initiative, which is currently live. Members can earn NFTs this way. Starbucks Odyssey is based on Polygon and is currently only accessible to beta testers in the US.
The “Journeys” inform customers about coffee and the company’s history while promoting the Starbucks brand. They consist of a variety of tasks like solving puzzles, watching videos, and taking tests.

According to the international coffee shop chain, “Starbucks Odyssey members can earn and purchase digital collectible stamps (NFTs), accruing Odyssey Points that unlock access to exclusive offers, experiential rewards, and one-of-a-kind Starbucks artwork that isn’t available anywhere else.”

Starbucks has a history in the cryptocurrency space. The business partnered with Bakkt to make it possible for its customers to pay with BTC. The CEO of Bakkt, Gavin Michael, outlined the benefits of the app, saying:

“The average consumer holds a wealth of digital assets, from gift cards to loyalty points to bitcoin, but lacks the tools to adequately track and utilise their value. As a first step in our mission to increase everyone’s access to digital assets, we are overjoyed to release the Bakkt App to the public.
